This first time we went the weather was beautiful. It was around 60 to 65 degrees and completely sunny. We heard a park ranger telling someone that that was the sunniest day they had ever had at that beach (we heard this at the end of the day - kind of a bummer, we just assumed it was always that beautiful :). It was such a great way to break ourselves into our new environment.
It is about an hour and a half drive to this beach (Cannon Beach).
There are green hillsides all around the beaches here. The pictures don't do justice. It looks ten times greener in real life.
The kids were so excited to build a real sand castle. This was at the beginning of the day. I forgot my camera in the car after lunch so I didn't get the finished result. There were probably ten towers and they had a mote running around it and everything. I was pretty proud of their first castle. I can't wait to go again this weekend. Yay! I love the beach.... who knew?!

I can tell that you are having a wonderful time! Summer will start for us in another week. I can hardly wait! We will have to build a sand castle on the opposite side of the country - then we will have Christensen Castles on both sides of the USA.
