Simple Things

Sometimes it is the tiny little things we get to do as a family that I love so much and end up meaning the most. Like sitting here with Jacob making finger puppets of the Nativity that he got from church today. Or like making a gingerbread house together for our ward party. They gave us the house and we just had to put it together. It was the one from Costco (which is the one we buy every year so it ended up being free for us this year. Yay!). David had the idea to make the little men look like missionaries. Everybody loved that :). David really came up with all the ideas. The neccos for the shingles, Andees mints for the door and shingles (on the side windows), Andees mints and tootsie rolls for presents. The icicles were the "topping on the cake" - in my opinion. I thought it turned out really cute. They were using the houses as centerpieces for the tables at our ward party. We ended up sitting at the table with ours so it really didn't get viewed by that many people. But we can tell you, it was one of the best :).
See the shingles... so cute!
Another fun thing we do a lot is the science museum. No matter how many times we go we love it. The boys had a blast in the chemistry lab this time. Anything with goggles and test tubes is fun. They were learning about vitamin C and how it works in our bodies.
Then of course it is always fun to play in the water.
Grandma and Grandpa had I-Max tickets they got with their membership that they hadn't got to use yet so they sent them to us to use for Christmas. It was Awesome! We went and saw "Tornado Alley." It wasn't quite what David and I expected but it was super fun just the same. Now Emma is terrified to ever live in Tornado Alley :).
Katie kept saying she was "Freaking Out" because of how the seats have no wall or railing in front of you and it is such a sharp decline. It was pretty funny. She (and most of the other kids) really were freaking out about the drop. That is all part of the experience, right?
That night David dropped me off at Domino's to order some take out pizza and took the kids down to Krispy Kreme while we were waiting. They LOVE Krispy Kreme. We got a bunch of Christmas shaped doughnuts. It was a very fun and simple day of just being together.

This was just a random picture Jacob or Katie took of Samson, but I thought it was cute and decided to throw it in.Our little fake tree we tried to use this year ended up dying so the kids and David went to Home depot and picked out a beautiful, big, real tree (cheap since we live here where most the real trees come from :). We love it. I am glad our fake one finally gave out so we can go back to real ones. I have missed that (though I love fake ones for the ease of putting them up whenever you want and no watering :). Hopefully next year my back won't be out so that I will be able to go with them all to get our tree. Again, it is those little things we do together as a family that mean so much.
